Aphrodisiacs for Men
While men search for ways to climb the corporate ladder ... they're also looking for something to give their sex life a boost.
Listed below, are the most scientifically sound and researched male aphrodisiacs and male sexual performance enhancers.
Of course ... I myself have never, ever in my wildest dreams and worst drunken stupor have needed to resort to a little sexual pickme up (yeah right), but honestly, the substances listed below have been around a long time and used around the world.
Yohimbine, is an herb derived from the inner bark of the yohimbe tree. Native to southwestern Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon and the Congo, the active component of this bark is yohimbine, which is an alkaloid monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor that blocks adrenergic receptors. As a result of this MAO inhibition, the blood vessels dilate and blood pressure lowers. The dilation of the blood vessels is the generally accepted explanation as to the effects of the bark.
However, it is important to note that the FDA has classified yohimbine as an unsafe herb. Because of the proliferation of negative side effects such as anxiety, increased blood pressure, heart rate increase, dizziness, headache, and skin flushing the taking of yohimbine extract should be done with caution. These side effects may or not apply to you if you do decide to take a yohimbine extract be aware of the physiological effects of the bark. Yohimbine is not recommended for excessive or long-term use.
Yohimbine is freely available in health, natural food stores, pharmacies and mail order. An analysis of commercial yohimbe products sold in the United States revealed that few products were found with any appreciable levels of yohimbine, raising the concerns about quality control of some of these products.
L-Arginine or just Arginine, an amino acid found in food, has been the focus of increasing interest since the early 1980ís when its use was first popularized as a safe and effective way to increase the amount of growth hormone (GH) released from the pituitary gland. GH has been well known to retard many aspects of aging.
Scientists have now discovered that Arginine was the primary supplier of nitrogen (N) atoms, which the body uses to create molecules of a simple gas know as nitric oxide (NO). As NO research has exploded in recent years, it is now being widely acclaimed as one of the most important molecules in the body. So what has nitric oxide (NO) have to do with sexual performance? It has been discovered that NO is the primary physiological mediator of penile erection. In other words, no (NO) no go.
According to numerous reports from highly satisfied arginine users since the early 1980ís, dietary L-arginine can give men erections that are bigger, harder, more frequent and longer lasting in bed. Some men claim that arginine also gives them more endurance. Both men and women have reported that arginine also increases their libido or desire for sex. Arginine seems to be able to help men with erectile dysfunction (impotence) as well as men who have normal sexual function. NO is now widely recognized as the major, if not the sole, neurochemical responsible for causing penile erections. L-arginine is available in health food stores, pharmacies and mail order. The recommended dose is 3,000 mg per day taken throughout the day.
Androstenedione (ASD), is naturally produced in your body by the adrenal gland. The body immediately converts it to testosterone, and thatís what athletes are looking for, as much testosterone as possible. Scientists discovered a way to synthesize or make an exact copy of ASD that can be taken orally in pill form. According to clinical tests, ASD will increase your testosterone level by a whopping 24% on average within sixty to ninety minutes after taking it.
There's only one catch to ASD use. You must be getting the right amount of zinc at the same time in order fr the conversion to take place.
According to Dr. Fernand Labrieís studies at the University Center Hospital in Canada, the amount of androgens produced in the body steadily declines after the age of 25. By the age of 80, you can expect your androgen level to decrease by 40.8% to 72.8% (56.8% average). Androstenedione is one of those androgens, and its average drop is about 51%. Dr. Jesse Berlin of Harvard confirmed the correlation between ASD and testosterone. He assisted Dr. Anna Gray of the New England Research Institute in examining the results of 88 published studies on age and testosterone. They found that the average decline of testosterone is 35% as you get older. Also, they reported that men with practically any kind of injury or illness have symptoms of low testosterone levels. This includes chronic illnesses, such as arthritis and diabetes.
Another potency herb or natural aphrodisiac is Potency wood or Muira Puama. This shrub is native to Brazil and has been used as a powerful aphrodisiac and nerve-stimulant in South American folk medicine. The exact chemical pathways of potency wood are unknown, however, it is thought that the wood enhances both psychological and physical aspects of sexual function.
Ginkgo biloba extract has also been touted as a sexuality enhancer simply for the reason that it increases blood flow in all areas of the body. It has been marketed as a memory improvement drug because it increases blood flow to the brain.
Male aphrodisiacs may indeed physiologically affect men, however, they can only build on existing passion and emotion. These come from within you, not from anything that you can take.
