Heart Disease Symptoms

Many people every day wonder if any of the pains and discomforts they are experiencing could be a heart disease symptom. Most people believe that a heart attack is quick and very intense just like you see on television when an actor or actress grabs their chest and falls to the ground. However, this is not the normal case with a heart attack or a heart disease symptom.

Normally, a heart attack begins slowly. A person may only feel a mild pain or just feel discomfort. A heart disease symptom is not always present and can come and go. Sometimes, a heart disease symptom can last for a few minutes and then go away entirely such as a squeezing sensation, fullness, pressure or pain.

The main heart disease symptom associated with Coronary Artery Disease is angina. Angina is explained to be a discomfort in the chest such as a burning feeling, aching feeling, pressure, squeezing, heaviness or a painful feeling. These feelings may not only be felt in the chest but some people have had the same feeling in their arms, neck, throat, shoulders, back or jaw. The other heart disease symptoms that are associated with coronary heart disease are shortness of breath, irregular heartbeats, dizziness, nausea, faster heartbeat, and sweating.

If you are talking about Arrhythmias or Atrial Fibrillation, the major heart disease symptom is palpitations. Palpitations are when a person feels their heart skip a beat, or a feeling of fluttering, or that their heart is running away. Other heart disease symptoms that are associated with these two types of heart disease include dizziness, fainting, pounding in the chest, shortness of breath, feeling tired and of course discomfort in the chest.

Heart Valve Disease is another heart disease that can occur in any individual. The major heart disease symptom noted with rheumatic heart disease is the shortness of breath. Person with heart valve disease may find it difficult to catch their breath after normal activities or when they first lie down. Other heart disease symptoms with heart valve disease include dizziness, weakness, and pressure on the chest, palpitation, swelling of the feet, ankles, abdomen, and fast weight gain such as two to three pounds in one day.

As you can tell, chest pain or discomfort is a heart disease symptom that is present in every heart disease. If you have any discomfort in your chest then you should visit with your physician to ensure that the pain in your chest is not a heart disease symptom.
