"You're Hungry Again?"
Overweight guys who say they can't lose body fat because they're always hungry may not just lack willpower.
According to a new University of Florida study, if you're obese, it can take you almost twice as long as other people to feel full. Researchers used neuroimaging equipment to scan the brains of 10 obese and 20 normal-sized adults to look for the changes that occur when someone has had enough to eat.
While this took about 10 minutes in the standard-issue folks, it took 14 to 19 minutes in the obese subjects.
"Time...is on my side"Event hat mere 10-minute gap is long enough to scarf down plenty more than you need. So whether you're looking to loose five pounds or fifty-five pounds ...here are some ways to make sure your brain catches up to your food. Stop shoveling like you're digging out from a snowstormDon't shovel in food like you're stoking a steam engine. Instead, take time to enjoy every little bit. Hey...you could even relax and enjoy some conversation with the people around you. Except your in-laws. In that case...kepp eating. Admire your handi-workWhen you finish a serving, sit back for a few minutes before you decide whether or not you'll have seconds. In addition...in every meal, include foods that are both healthful and filling: soup, vegetables, legumes, low-fat meat or fish. If you tend to eat too much at every meal...decide beforehand exactly how much food you need...and stick to it.
