Dieting Myths

Men and women are constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest diet to hit the market.

However, there are many dieting myths that are making it difficult for men to find the best diet for men that works for them, and to successfully loose the weight that they’ve been trying to lose for some time; perhaps decades.

Types of dieting myths

Here are some common dieting myths that you should know about:

  • Weight loss is prevented by a slow metabolism. This dieting myth has been around for a long time. The truth is that a slow metabolism is created when the body is inactive. This is why it’s important to get moving if you want to lose weight.
  • You need to eat low fat to lose weight. This is another dieting myth that is far from the truth. This is because many times those foods and food products that are considered to be low fat are high in calories and sugar. This means that you may not be consuming fat but that you could be eating more calories than you need, leading to weight gain instead of weight loss.
  • Stopping smoking leads to weight gain. This dieting myth has prevented many people from stopping smoking for fear of gaining weight. The truth is that you can stop smoking, eat right, and not gain any weight.
  • Eating at night makes you gain weight. This isn’t true since it doesn’t matter when you eat if you’re eating too much. This dieting myth is only true if you’re consuming extra calories at night than you need to eat in your entire day.

There are many other dieting myths that you need to be aware of when you’re planning on starting a diet for weight loss. The important thing to remember is to stay informed and question any diet fads or facts that come your way while you’re dieting.

It’s important that when you’re planning on going on a diet that you make an informed decision about what you’re going to be eating, when you’re going to be eating, and what type of exercise plan you’re going to be following.

With so many dieting myths out there dominating the dieting market you need to educate yourself as to what works and what you can discard. Take any diet plan with a grain of salt since studies show that a healthy diet plan of eating naturally and in moderation, combined with an exercise plan, is the best diet that you can follow.

Any time that someone approaches you with the “diet plan that is working for them” you need to remember that unless it involves eating naturally, it’s probably a dieting myth that can view with some healthy skepticism.

Ultimately, the only diet plan that you need to know about involves eating a combination of low fat, low carbs, low calories, and the right amount for protein. This, in combination with a healthy exercise plan will help you to lose the weight that you want to lose and keep it off permanently. It’s time to discard those dieting myths and focus on basic nutrition and common sense when it comes to weight loss.
