Snoring Remedies We have looked at remedies that include surgery, loss of weight and body health and some of the over the counter remedies for snoring. What we have not talked about in depth in any of the other articles is herbal remedies.
Herbal remedies are used for several different ailments, and snoring is one of them. Most herbal remedies do not have a scientific backing to say they work, yet they have persisted for hundreds and thousands of years. Maybe there is something to them, and maybe it’s all garbage. What I do know is that many people swear by these snoring remedies and each person’s body works differently under different stimuli. So it may be that they will work for you.
Peppermint Oil: Breathing in the scent of peppermint oil when it is steamed with some water is said to improve breathing, and so might help with snoring. The same is said about eucalyptus blue gum. Golden Seal: Golden seal is a nasal decongestant, which might help you with your breathing if used before going to bed. Golden rod can be used as well, but like so many herbal snoring remedies, neither is proven to work. MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane): MSM diluted by sixteen percent water and administered to the nostrils just before sleeping was proven to help snoring in eighty percent of the subjects in an Oregon Health Sciences University study. Seven of the eight patients resumed snoring within twenty four hours of the MSM solution being substituted with a placebo. MSM is one of the few herbal snoring remedies proven to work on snorers sometimes. Herbal Teas: Herbal teas have been proven to help snoring in some people. A little trick to try is to add a little bit of honey to the tea. This will help coat the throat and may reduce snoring. The tea will also help you to sleep better. It is important to remember not to buy herbal teas that say “Will promote sleep” on the package. Sleeping isn’t really the main problem, but snoring is. If your sleep is too relaxed, it will make you snore more, not less. These are just a few of the herbal snoring remedies offered on the market. There are also caplets and sprays available everywhere. Some people find that by combining different sets of herbal snoring remedies, instead of just sticking to one type, works better for them to stop snoring. It’s important to note that most herbal snoring remedies don’t work, and you should be careful when buying them. It can get very expensive to buy multiple herbal snoring remedies, and have them not work for you. You should also be careful that you aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients in some of the herbal snoring remedies, and consult your doctor before taking them. The Doc might have some insight into what you are planning to take, and they may even have some suggestions.
